Research excerpt

Announced October 2, 2024, from San Francisco. Crescendo closed a series of venture rounds totaling $50 million, with the Series C led by General Catalyst. Celesta Capital, Alorica, and strategic angels also participated. The company was valued at $500 million post-money. Crescendo operates an augmented-AI customer experience platform that combines automation with humans in the loop and owns the full customer interaction rather than licensing conversational AI software. It bills clients on outcomes rather than the contact-center industry standard of hourly or per-seat rates. The model was conceived by co-founder and President Anand Chandrasekaran while he was a partner at General Catalyst, working with GC chief executive Hemant Taneja; the firm incubated the company before backing it. Andy Lee, founder of a large existing service provider, serves as chairman. General Catalyst has previously incubated Kayak, Demandware, and Livongo.
