Kirkland — OpenAI partnership

Research excerpt

Published December 2025. Kirkland & Ellis announced that it advised Thrive Holdings on its partnership with OpenAI to accelerate enterprise AI adoption. The announcement describes Thrive Holdings as a firm that invests in, acquires, and builds businesses positioned to benefit from long-term, technology-driven transformation, and notes that OpenAI will embed research, product, and engineering teams inside Thrive Holdings' companies. The Kirkland team was led by corporate partners. Kirkland had previously advised Thrive Capital on the structuring and formation of Thrive Holdings itself, announced in May 2025 and described then as a permanent capital vehicle for investing in, acquiring, and operating businesses over the long term. This is a law firm deal announcement rather than reporting; the substantive terms of the OpenAI transaction are covered in the companies' own releases.
